Temporary Track Closures

NRW have closed the Trail in Crychan at posts 179, 113 and 115 due to felling.

This effects Horse Riding Trail 8  Cwar Cerrig the extension the Cwm Dulais trail from Cefn Farm.

More Trees Down

There are a large amount of windblown trees at the top of Halfway (near waymarker 144) blocking the trail. Just what we needed after Decembers storms!

NRW harvesting teams are currently working on the site so the trail will be closed for a couple of weeks.

Trail Clear Up Progress

All the trails in Halfway Forest and the 2 small trails near Cefn Farm car park have been cleared of fallen trees and branches.

Natural Resources Wales are working to open up the rest of Crychan. It may take a while as some of the trails have taken quite a bit of damage.

Tracks Blocked by Significant Tree Damage

Natural Resources Wales have put out a notice about significant tree damage from the recent heavy snow causing major disruption to tracks in Crychan and Halfway Forests.

The number of marker posts around Brynffo car park has been reduced.

The maps covering these trials will be updated but in the mean time temporary maps have been made available.

Track Clearing October 2017

The Crychan Forest Association complete a track clearing session on the Cwm Dulas trail and around Pont Cefn Blewog.

12 pictures have added to the Allt Cwncrychan Horse Riding Trail.

This Trail makes an ideal 90 minute walk from Esgair Fwyog car park. With a stream and superb views.

Halfway Illegal Rave Update

Dyfed Powys Police is investigating an illegal rave that took place in Halfway Forest over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

The rave caused disruption to the trails in Halfway Forest with a considerable amount of mess and rubbish left behind. Natural Resources Wales quickly employed local contractors to perform a clean up and have estimated that the illegal event will cost them between £2,000 and £3,000.

Chief inspector Matt Scrase, Dyfed Powys Police said:

Gatherings such as illegal raves can cause considerable anxiety to the community and can be extremely dangerous. We have made several arrests in connection with this rave and we will not tolerate people trespassing on private land causing considerable damage and disturbing the community.

We want people to come to Dyfed-Powys and enjoy what we have to offer, but I would urge people to think twice before coming here to behave irresponsibly and spoil it for other people.

He went on to add:

Farmers, landowners and local communities are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately to the Police; this may be an unusual numbers of vehicles, especially camper vans, vans or trucks in the locality, illegal trespassers who may be doing ‘recce’ of sites in advance of the event.

I can assure local communities that Police will take the appropriate action to deter illegal gatherings and deal robustly with any criminal offences discovered or disclosed.

Please obey all signs in the forest. You risk your own safety if you ignore these prohibition signs.  Harvesting machines have a huge safety exclusion zone, due to the possibility of chain shot.
